How does RiverLink continue to maintain the ecological health of the river?

How rivers are managed has changed significantly over recent years. RiverLink’s river work has been designed to allow it to flow naturally within certain boundaries. We will widen the riverbed, create instream habitat features, and plant more native plants. All these ‘design’ features will maintain the ecological health of Te Awa Kairangi Hutt River.

RiverLink will go through a statutory planning process before it starts construction. The resource consents that will permit RiverLink to get underway will require construction effects to be managed to protect the ecological health of Te Awa Kairangi Hutt River. Ecological monitoring of construction activities will confirm that construction effects are being managed.
